Dear Trish,
This letter is long overdue to thank you for taking such wonderful care of my aunt, Daisy Hoppe. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the wonderful and loving care you and your staff provided for Daisy in her final year of life. Please feel free to give my number to anyone who is considering having a loved one move into one of your board-and-care homes, as I would be happy to share all of the positive experiences that I had in dealing with you and your staff.
Here is a recap of Daisy's journey with you:
My Aunt Daisy had been living alone in her large home in Riverside but it became apparent that it was no longer safe for her to live alone and so far away from all of her family. I moved her into an Assisted Living facility in Orange County in July 2005. As Daisy's health continued to deteriorate, she began receiving hospice care in December 2006. Daisy's "team" of caregivers convinced me that Daisy needed a lot more individualized care than what she was receiving in Assisted Living and they strongly urged me to check out your facilities.
In March 2007 I finally made a visit to your homes and I instantly knew that this would be the perfect place for Daisy to live out her final days. More importantly, I knew that THIS is where I wanted Daisy to be when she would ultimately die. I did not want her to die alone in her room and be found a day or so later—I knew that at Beach Homes, there would be someone checking on her at all times. After meeting you and touring the homes, I couldn't wait to move Daisy in! But, at that time, there was a waiting list and I knew we would have to wait our turn.
Several days later, I received a phone call from you, Trish, saying that one of the residents had passed away that morning and you had an opening for Daisy, if we wanted it. My prayers had been answered and we immediately made arrangements to move Daisy as soon as possible.
Daisy ended up living with you for just over a year and the quality of her life improved tremendously during that year, even though her health continued to decline. You welcomed the hospice personnel into your home and allowed them to be active partners in deciding what was best for Daisy. Your staff provided superior care and an atmosphere to ensure Daisy's safety, comfort, and happiness at all times. The home cooked meals always smelled delicious when I would visit! I know that Daisy really enjoyed all of the seasonal decorations that filled the house and she loved looking out on her own special garden. The home was immaculate and fresh-smelling at all times and Daisy was always clean, nicely dressed, well groomed, and comfortable. Your staff went above and beyond to attend to all of Daisy's needs and her often "eccentric" requests. I know that many of your staff and YOU also dispensed many, many hugs, kind words, and loving gifts with Daisy to make her feel loved and a part of a "family".
All of these things combined to give Daisy a loving home up until her peaceful death in March 2008 at age 90. I would not hesitate to recommend your homes for anyone who wants THE BEST care for a loved one who can no longer care for him or herself. When that time comes for me, I sure hope that Beach Homes will still be around and that you will have a room for me!
Because of the special bond I have with you, your staff, and several of the residents, I will continue to pop in for regular visits. Beach Homes will always be a special part of my life and, again, I want to thank you for being there in our time of need.
Sincerely,
Diane Edmonds
